PHANTA is an artistic duo formed by choreographer and performer Frida Giulia Franceschini and director and composer Sophie Vitelli.
Since the inception of their artistic dialogue and collaboration in 2016, the pair has delved into the elements of performance within the context of late capitalist culture, viewed through a feminist lens. Together, they investigate the anatomies of narrative—seeing storytelling not merely as a means of recounting events but as a profound human strategy for navigating depowering circumstances, creating order from chaos, giving shape to the senseless, and crafting fleeting identities.
For PHANTA, narrative is not confined to words; it is embodied through gestures, sounds, and movements—woven into performances rich with phantasmagoria and tinged with magical realism. Music and movement are always the starting points of their creative process, evolving into multilayered compositions that embrace the tragicomic, the poetic, and the unapologetically raunchy.
